This process, often referred to as "doubling," results in a fabric that is exceptionally durable, soft, and lustrous, making it a hallmark of high-quality handloom textiles, especially in Banarasi sarees.
Embroidery fabrics are materials enhanced with decorative needlework, where designs are stitched onto a base cloth using threads, yarn, or embellishments like beads and sequins. Unlike jacquard (where the pattern is woven into the cloth), embroidery is added on top of the finished fabric.
